CORE STABILITY & ENDURANCE ASSESSMENT

Plank Test.

Assess core muscular endurance and trunk stability through a controlled plank hold. Maintain a standardised body position for as long as technically valid and repeat the same protocol to establish a reliable core-endurance baseline.

Test Protocol

Forearm Plankised pull-up strength-endurance procedure

The Plank Test assesses upper-body muscular endurance using repeated controlled pull-ups. The exact technique should be defined before testing and kept identical between athletes and future retests. EVOLVE records only seconds that meet the selected technique standard.

01
Warm UpComplete light whole-body movement, trunk mobility and several short submaximal plank holds before the maximal trial.
02
Set the PositionPlace the forearms on the testing surface with elbows approximately under the shoulders. Extend the legs and establish a straight, controlled body line.
03
Brace the TrunkBrace the abdominal and gluteal musculature while keeping the pelvis neutral. Avoid excessive arching or lifting the hips.
04
Start the TimerBegin timing once the athlete reaches the defined position. The tester should monitor technique continuously throughout the hold.
05
Maintain Valid FormContinue only while the athlete maintains the required body position. Stop the trial when technique can no longer be maintained.
06
Record the HoldRecord the total valid hold duration in seconds. Repeat using the same position, surface and judging criteria for reliable comparison.
EVOLVE Scoring Method

The primary result is the number of valid pull-ups completed under the selected protocol. EVOLVE can also display average seconds across repeated trials and the consistency spread. For longitudinal tracking, the same technique, depth, cadence and time limit should be maintained.

How to Record the Result

Record only the time during which the athlete maintains the defined plank position. Stop the timer when the athlete loses the required body line, raises or drops the hips excessively, or otherwise fails the selected technique standard. EVOLVE uses the longest valid hold as the primary result.

Important: Pull-up scores depend on technique, range of motion, cadence, body position and test duration. Compare results using the same protocol.
