CHANGE-OF-DIRECTION AGILITY ASSESSMENT

Illinois Agility Test.

Assess acceleration, deceleration and change-of-direction ability through the standard Illinois Agility course. Complete repeated timed trials using the same course layout, surface and start procedure to establish a reliable agility baseline.

Test Protocol

Forearm Agilityised pull-up strength-endurance procedure

The Illinois Agility Test assesses acceleration, deceleration and change-of-direction ability through a standardised agility course. The course dimensions, start procedure, timing method and surface should remain consistent between athletes and future retests. EVOLVE records valid timed trials and uses the fastest valid time as the primary result.

01
Warm UpComplete progressive running, mobility and change-of-direction drills before maximal timed trials.
02
Set the CourseMark the Illinois course using the standard 10 m by 5 m layout with the required four cones and central markers. Keep the same distances for every trial.
03
Start PositionPlace the athlete at the designated start line in a stable two-point or standing start according to the selected protocol. Avoid a running start.
04
Complete the CourseSprint through the course, weaving around the centre markers and completing the required changes of direction as quickly as possible.
05
Finish the TrialCross the finish line at maximal controlled speed. Record the elapsed time using the same timing method for every attempt.
06
Repeat the TrialsAllow adequate recovery between maximal attempts. Record at least two valid trials and use the fastest valid time as the primary result.
EVOLVE Scoring Method

The primary result is the fastest valid Illinois Agility time in seconds. EVOLVE also stores the average trial time and consistency spread. For longitudinal tracking, the same course dimensions, start procedure, timing method and surface should be maintained.

How to Record the Result

Enter each valid trial time in seconds. Use the same course dimensions, timing method, footwear, surface and start procedure for every trial. EVOLVE identifies the fastest valid time as the primary result and also displays the average and trial spread.
