AEROBIC FITNESS & ENDURANCE ASSESSMENT

6-Minute Run / Walk Test.

Assess acceleration, deceleration, pacing ability and aerobic fitness ability through the standard six-minute course. Complete repeated six-minute distance result using the same course layout, surface and start procedure to establish a reliable aerobic fitness aerobic fitness baseline.

Test Protocol

Forearm Agilityised pull-up strength-endurance procedure

The 6-Minute Run / Walk Test assesses upper-body muscular endurance using repeated controlled pull-ups. The exact technique should be defined before testing and kept identical between athletes and future retests. EVOLVE records only seconds that meet the selected technique standard.

01
Warm UpComplete light jogging, walking and dynamic mobility before the timed effort. The warm-up should prepare the athlete without creating significant fatigue.
02
Set the CourseUse a measured flat course, track or clearly marked loop. Record the exact distance of the course so completed laps and partial distances can be measured accurately.
03
Start the TestBegin from a controlled standing start when the timer starts. The athlete may run, jog or walk according to ability, but should aim to cover as much distance as possible in six minutes.
04
Maintain the EffortManage pace throughout the six-minute period. The athlete may change between running and walking when required, while continuing to move forward safely.
05
Finish at Six MinutesAt exactly six minutes, stop the effort and record the completed laps plus the final partial distance. Use the same measurement method for every retest.
06
Record the ResultEnter the total distance covered. EVOLVE can display metres, kilometres and average movement speed from the recorded six-minute distance.
EVOLVE Scoring Method

The primary result is the number of valid pull-ups completed under the selected protocol. EVOLVE can also display average seconds across repeated trials and the consistency spread. For longitudinal tracking, the same technique, depth, cadence and time limit should be maintained.

How to Record the Result

Enter the total distance completed in exactly six minutes. If using a loop, include all completed laps and the measured final partial distance. EVOLVE converts the selected unit to metres and calculates average speed from the six-minute duration. Use the same course and measurement method for future tests.

Important: Six-minute distance depends on pacing, course measurement, surface, movement mode and test conditions. Compare results using the same protocol.
